Our Focus Ministries
These are the specific ministries we work through and with in Nicaragua. Our aim is to share the love of Christ through each of these areas of influence by helping to meet physical needs. By doing so, we gain the opportunity to not only impact individuals and families, but to share the gospel, win people to Christ and start the disciple making process in their lives.
The goal of this part of our ministry is simply to reach (and to reach out to) the unreached, the lost and the neglected of some of the poorest communities in the country of Nicaragua. Two such communities are Oscar Baltadano, located near the city of Carazo and the very remote village of El Nancital.
Oscar Baltadano is home to several of the children in our Kids’ Sponsorship Program and their families. Although we are able to touch the families living here through the Sponsorship Program, our desire is to share the love of Christ with them even more directly by helping to improve their homes and living conditions – which we also try to do as God sends the resources. It is in this community that we have been blessed to provide a week’s worth of food for the families and gifts for the children each of the last three Christmases through our Annual Community Christmas Blessing.
El Nancital is a community located 30 – 45 minutes from Tipitapa. Over 40 families live in this very remote location with no electricity. The community is accessible by only the most rugged of 4 wheel drive vehicles, or by horseback or on foot. The only source of “clean” water in this community is a small spring located at the bottom of a steep hill with only a narrow, rugged, winding path leading to it. For 40 years the residents of El Nancital would lower their buckets daily to draw out the water needed for their families.
With the help of our faithful supporters, in just the last 3 years our ministry has been blessed to run a water line up the hill from the spring, drop a solar powered water pump into the spring and pump the water into the community and into a storage tank. Just this past summer, a NV team travelled to El Nancital and installed a UV water filtration system as the water comes out of the tank, providing clean water for consumption year round!
New Vision teams regularly distribute seeds, clothing, flip flops, toiletry items and small toys in these (and other) communities we visit.
